Healthcare has to do more with the same number of people. At Omring, AI is not an experiment but part of the digital strategy. A look under the hood of their AI platform: Microsoft Fabric, Lakehouse, PySpark notebooks, Azure AI Foundry and LLMs combined into working solutions — plus the architecture choices and lessons from idea to production.

Healthcare faces a hard problem. An ageing population and growing staff shortages mean care organizations have to do more with the same number of people. At Omring, AI is not an experiment but an essential part of the digital strategy to keep care sustainable.

Wyke Nieuwenhuizen and Mello Bogaarts walk you through the technical architecture behind their AI solutions. After a short introduction to the challenges in the Dutch VVT sector — nursing, care and home care — they go straight under the hood of the AI platform.

Using real examples, they show how Microsoft Fabric, data lakehouse technology, PySpark notebooks, Azure AI Foundry and large language models come together into solutions that actually work in healthcare. The full chain is covered: unlocking data from source systems, processing and enriching it inside Fabric, putting LLMs to work, and feeding results back to users and business processes.

Also on the table: how human feedback is built into the process, which architecture choices were made, how they keep a grip on reliability, governance and value — and the most important lessons from the move from idea to production.
